Euro NCAP Approves Cellbond/Kistler WorldSID 50th Dummy

Cellbond and Kistler are pleased to announce that the jointly developed WorldSID-50M has been approved for use in Euro NCAP testing.

The approval represents an important milestone for both organisations, reinforcing their shared commitment to supporting the highest standards of vehicle safety testing and performance assessment across Europe and globally.

The WorldSID 50th percentile male crash test dummy is primarily used in side-impact crash testing to evaluate vehicle safety and occupant protection. Its high biofidelity and advanced instrumentation make it suitable for regulatory, consumer, and research applications. Automotive manufacturers employ it in development and validation of side airbags, seat structures, and restraint systems. The crash test dummy also plays a key role in certification tests and is widely adopted in global safety programs. Its modularity, detailed sensing capabilities, and compatibility with digital acquisition systems make it a critical tool in both compliance testing and innovative safety engineering. Configuration in accordance with ISO 15830 and UN ECE R135.

It is available with in-dummy Kistler DTI and DTS Slice 6 technologies as well as analogue configuration.

Oliver Khabiri, of Cellbond ATD, said: ‘We are delighted that Euro NCAP has approved the Cellbond/Kistler WorldSID 50th for use in its testing programme. This approval reflects the rigorous validation, engineering excellence, and close collaboration between our teams. We remain committed to providing high-quality ATDs that enable accurate, repeatable and robust safety assessments in line with evolving industry requirements.’

Kistler’s Alexander Schmitt said: ‘Achieving Euro NCAP approval for the WorldSID 50th is a key milestone and an important step for Kistler and Cellbond in supporting the most demanding safety assessment programs worldwide. This accomplishment reflects the strong partnership between our teams, built on shared engineering rigor and mutual trust. Kistler’s core strength lies in uniting state-of-the-art instrumentation with dummy development, enabling highly accurate and repeatable measurement solutions. With our established competence in the design and manufacture of adult crash test dummies, we are pleased to support the continuous evolution of side-impact safety standards.’
