THOR is an advanced 50th percentile male anthropomorphic test device (ATD or crash test dummy) which represents human-like anthropometry and response to impact.
Adopted for the Euro NCAP Moving Progressive Deformable Barrier Test from 2020 onwards, THOR will also be used by Australian NCAP. Other NCAP programmes worldwide are considering THOR for introduction over the next few years. Cellbond also produce and supply the MPDB Frontal Offset Barrier which Euro NCAP have specified for the Moving Progressive Deformable Barrier Test.
THOR includes extensive instrumentation to assess the performance of vehicle safety systems designed to mitigate injuries in frontal and frontal oblique crashes. It is the most lifelike dummy yet.
Shown for the first time at the Cellbond 30th Anniversary Technical Conference in May 2018, THOR has been presented at carhs Safety Week in Würzburg, Germany 15-17th May, JSAE 2018 in Yokohama, Japan 23-25th May, Shanghai Safety Summit, China 16-17 July, and Automotive Testing Expo North America in Michigan, 23-25 October, where he was displayed with DAS Integration by DTS.
