The THOR 5F dummy, adopted by EuroNCAP for use
in protocols from 2029, is an advanced 5th percentile
adult female frontal-impact ATD. The specification is
derived from the latest NHTSA October 2025 drawing
pack sometimes referred to as Standard Build Level-C.
THOR-5F is the most sophisticated female ATD,
with a stature of 59 inches (1.51 m) and a weight of 108
lbs. (47.5 kg). She covers the spectrum of smaller and
lighter vehicle occupants and corresponds with the fifth
percentile of the female population. This means that
only 5 percent of the female population are smaller and
lighter than this dummy.
Compared to the Hybrid-III 5F, a scaled down model of
the male Hybrid-III 50th, THOR-5F features enhanced
anthropometry which aligns more closely with women’s
physiological characteristics.
The technology for this dummy is based on the THOR-
50M, but the THOR-5F design addresses significant
differences between male and female bodies, including
APTS twin abdominal pressure sensors, breast anatomy,
and a female pelvic bone. These differences affect belt
fit, airbag interaction, pelvis/abdomen loading and
resulting injury mechanisms. The technology for this
dummy is based on the THOR-50M, the most advanced
ATD ever manufactured.
Cellbond ATD offer DTS and DTI DAS options, and the
dummy supports 150+ data channels.
