Cellbond celebrates National Apprenticeship Week (4-8 March 2019)

BBC News film crew Cellbond STEM subjects young engineers UK

National Apprenticeship Week  2019 takes place from  4th –  8th  March. It celebrates the impact that apprenticeships have on individuals, employers and the economy. Apprenticeships offer practical, on-the-job, real work experience while getting paid –  opportunities which many organisations, including Cellbond, are proud to support.

Cellbond offer a number of apprenticeship schemes aimed at school leavers who want an alternative to a university degree which allows them to  to take a more practical approach to learning. Our apprenticeship schemes offer real-life work experience,  particularly in the engineering field where apprentices are able to work alongside Project Engineers from  the automotive safety industry on our anthropomorphic test devices (commonly known as ‘crash test dummies’) and our deformable aluminium crash test barriers. Newly qualified ATD Test Technician Clinton Elkin wrote a blog during his time as a Cellbond Apprentice which you can read here.

In addition to Engineering Apprenticeships, Cellbond also offers apprenticeship roles in other specialisms. Human Resource Apprentice Chris Hartley talks about his experience so far:

“I joined the company in October 2017 as an HR Trainee following the completion of my A Level studies. Thanks to the fantastic support I have received from my colleagues, as well as my tutor at CAW, I have become more confident and have developed new skills.

My apprenticeship has enabled me to contribute to the business in many ways, including:

  • Acting as the first point of contact and greeting guests on arrival for our 30th Anniversary Technical Conference
  • Being interviewed by BBC Look East alongside our Engineering Apprentices for a feature on engineering opportunities in the region
  • Being a finalist at the Hunts Post Awards 2018 in the Apprentice of the Year Category.

Every day brings a new challenge to overcome.  I learn something new every day and get to work with a diverse range of people with varying skill sets.  The discipline of having a full-time job alongside my studies has given me a definite advantage and prepared me extremely well for life after my apprenticeship.

Encocam believes in nurturing and developing talent and takes pride in supporting all staff to achieve their individual goals, providing ongoing development opportunities to work towards achieving personal and company objectives. I would highly recommend and encourage anyone interested in going down the apprenticeship route to look at the incredible opportunities on offer here.”

Chris has also taken part in a college video to promote apprenticeships.  Check it out here.

Cellbond currently has 12 apprentices on our apprenticeship program and we have a number of new opportunities available.  Cellbond believes in progression and supporting each member of our team to help them to achieve great success. We celebrate National Apprenticeship Week with all those in the apprenticeship community and recognize the positive impact, new ideas and energy that they bring to the work environment.
